Adriano and Lucy Schoeps are the Founders and Senior Pastors of JD Church. We were born in Brazil and have been living in the UK for more than 15 years. We feel this is the place God wants us to be and we both have a great love for this nation. We have been married for nearly 20 years and have two amazing daughters, Maria and Vitoria, who helped in the planting of JD Church. I (Adriano) have a background in graphic design and am finalising my Masters in theology – Missional Leadership. My passion is to equip Christians to form communities, where people can participate in 1-1 discipleship and experience love and acceptance through relationships. My wife Lucy has a background in administration and she is a fully qualified counsellor volunteering for a charity in Newbury which offers free counselling for young people. Her passion is to see people from all ages encountering emotional healing for their souls in the person of Jesus. At the start of their journey in ministry they were both involved in worship and they ran a young adults ministry which started in their living-room as a small group.

Meet Our Leadership Team

Worship Leader

I’m 19, I have been a part of JD Church since the day it started and have seen how the Church has grown both physically and spiritually over the last few years. It has been an amazing church to grow up in and being part of this church family has helped me so much im my own walk with God. I have a huge passion for worship and feel this is a calling in my life, as I love being used by God to touch people’s lives through my worship on a sunday it is my way of expressing my love for Jesus and love to be used by the Holy Spirit to see so many people worshipping Him with everything they have. I finished my A Levels last year and after what felt like a big roller coaster of emotions God made a way for me to be offered a place at university. As I brought my thoughts to God he began to make it clear that what he wanted was for me to choose him and take a year of my life to dedicate to him. So that's exactly what I did. I decided to take a gap year volunteering at JD Church whilst saving money for university. He put a love in my heart for the youth of Swindon and I am so excited to see what he will do this year and am excited to be used in whatever way he chooses to use me in. This will no doubt be a challenge for me but I know it's what God wants and I will no doubt grow so much in my worship, hopefully make an impact in the youth and be used as a tool to be there for them and also grow in my relationship with God, and I think this year is going to be awesome.

Youth Leader

I’m 21 and have lived in Swindon for just over 2 years now. I moved to Swindon to work for Youth for Christ and love their heart and vision for young people and Jesus. As I came towards the end of my second year I felt like God was calling me to a new challenge and as i explored that it become clear God wanted me to become part of the JD family. An opportunity came up for me to become a part time youth worker at JD Church alongside still working part time for Swindon Youth for Christ. So I started this new adventure in september and can clearly see how God is growing and using me in that, it's amazing to be so accepted into a loving family who are so caring and supportive and am so excited about what God is doing in this church especially with the young people!

Miriam Dias

Outreach Ministry

I’ve been a Primary Teacher for four years and am married to Ricardo. JD Church has been my home since 2012 and I love the family feel and the opportunities I’ve been given to really step outside my comfort zone in serving Jesus! As leader of JD Kids, I am passionate about seeing children of all ages develop an understanding of God’s love for them. I believe no-one is ever too young to be used by God and have their own encounter with the Holy Spirit. It’s amazing to see children developing their identity in Christ and finding their place in the JD family!
